succulent Lerian cuisine and taste original
greek food,
savouring local sea delicacies - known as "koukouvades" - fish marinated in
a spicy sauce, pulp on the grill, salted chub mackerels, chick-pea pies and
local cottage cheese (known as "myzithra").
When it comes to deserts, no-one could resist a treat of "pougkakia", the "svingoi"
and "xerotigana" ( a Greek version of dimples). Also to be tried: the "diassogalo"
- a local sweet aperitif - just as the "soumada" - a cinnamon-based drink -
and the "guava", a kind of fruit one only finds in Leros.
